Ginger (Zingiber Officinale) is a flowering plant that originated in China,and whose rhizome popularly known as ginger root or ginger is widely used all over the world as medicine and and as spice.

Ginger is a perennial herb which requires 8 to 10 months and can grow well in warm, humid climate with filtered sunlight.Though it is basically a tropical plant it can still be grown in areas of light frost if the rhizomes can be protected from freezing temperatures. In cold regions ginger can also be planted indoors. Ginger typically requires filtered sunlight but in colder regions exposure to full sunlight may be better.It requires soil rich in organic matter and with proper drainage.
